Big Time Gaming’s original Star Clusters Megaclusters game has been successful, though its Megaclusters™ reactions mechanic hasn’t quite matched the impact of their Megaways engine. However, the game does offer an impressive visual experience, especially with the addition of BTG’s progressive jackpot Megapays feature that can trigger at any moment. The Mega Jackpot begins at €300,000, and one lucky player managed to win €1,036,049 from it in Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Megapays.
While the core gameplay and features remain the same in this Megapays version, the math model has been modified. The potential for the bonus round has increased to 27,050x, but the RTP (return to player) is slightly lower at 96.27%. A total of 9.44% of the RTP contributes to the four progressive jackpots.
To win, players must land 5 to 25+ matching symbols in a cluster, either horizontally or vertically. The four premium gemstones all pay 50x your stake for 25+ of the same symbol in a cluster. The rainbow-colored star symbol is the Wild, replacing all regular symbols to create winning clusters.
The Reaction mechanic is a key feature of the game. Instead of removing winning symbols, they are split into four smaller symbols, giving another chance to win. If you win with these smaller symbols, they are then removed and replaced with symbols of the same size. The reactions continue as long as you keep winning.
You can also land a Gold Wild that comes with a rainbow-colored background. The Gold Wild Multiplier starts at x1, increasing by +1 for each win that includes at least one gold wild. You can have two active gold wilds during base game play, with the gold wild multiplier resetting between spins.
The Megapays version is primarily for jackpot chasers, but BTG has made changes that could appeal to high risk/reward players. The base game potential has been significantly reduced from 14,407x to 1,340x your stake, while the bonus round potential has increased from 23,960x to 27,050x your stake. This makes the Megapays version more volatile than the original. Outside of the jackpot feature, the RTP is 86.83%, lower than the original game’s 96.54% RTP. This Megapays version is less forgiving, but can provide bigger rewards via the bonus round and/or the jackpot game. If you prefer the core Megaclusters mechanic, you may prefer the original version.
