Pariplay has seen some success with their fantasy-themed game, Dragons of the North. Their new game, Gold’s Guardian, also centers around the mythical, fire-breathing creature. It features an animated red dragon on the left-hand side that comes to life when a dragon symbol lands inside any of the Locked Frames collected during base gameplay. The guardian dragon breathes fire onto the reels, turning framed symbol positions wild, with even more of these in the bonus round. Every 6th spin includes a Super Bonus Round, providing a chance to fill the reels with Locked Frames. The wild symbol is the highest paying, but the game’s potential of 832x may not be attractive in the current market.
Dragon head symbols land and leave a golden ring behind, referred to as a ‘Locked Frame’. These are stacked up randomly until a Dragon Head lands inside a Locked Frame, turning the Dragon Head to a wild and spreading to all adjacent Locked Frames, known as the Bursting Wilds feature. The regular Bonus Round is triggered by landing 3, 4 or 5 golden dragon egg scatters anywhere, awarding 8, 12 or 20 free spins respectively. Any Locked Frames from the base game carry over into the bonus round and 1 to 5 new Locked Frames are added per spin until they turn wild. The feature cannot be retriggered.
Every 6th bonus round triggered gives the Super Free Spins feature instead, awarding 12, 15 or 25 super free spins when you land 3, 4 or 5 scatters. A bonus wheel spins to award 1 to 5 extra Locked Frames per spin, along with 4, 6, 8 or 10 Locked Frames per spin in a pattern, increasing chances for larger wild wins.
The game is visually impressive, especially the large, red, animated dragon. However, it does have drawbacks. The Locked Frame wild transformation feature is limited compared to similar games, and the Super Bonus Round, although promising larger payouts, isn’t impressive due to high volatility and a low 832x potential. This game may not be compelling for experienced players or hardcore gamblers.
For those interested in similar games, Pariplay’s Dragons of the North and Fire vs. Ice, or Play’n Go’s 24K Dragon, might be worth a try. These games offer higher potential winnings and feature-rich gameplay.
